Chemical properties:

White crystal or crystalline powder, hygroscopic. The melting point is 120℃, easily soluble in water and ethanol, and soluble in ether. It turns pink when exposed to iron and decomposes into sulfuric acid and salicylic acid at high temperatures. 2-Hydroxy-5-sulfobenzoic acid dihydrate [5965-83-3] is white crystal or crystalline powder.

Use:

Intermediate of methamphetamine hydrochloride. It can also be used as an intermediate for dyes and surfactants to determine total protein in urine and as a metal ion chelating agent. Its 0.2M aqueous solution is used as a photometric determination reagent for uranium, ferric ions and fluoride ions (indirect). Organic catalysts, lubricating oil additives.

Use:

Used as a pharmaceutical intermediate for the production of pharmaceutical doxycycline and metremycin
